Get Low

Get Low
An un-eventful year.
Half my friends are making innocents,
The rest of us still act like children.
But, looking worse for wear.
I've no idea the damage that’s been done,
And I don’t plan to find out.
But, I need another reality check.
Say it again. Say the words, and we'll get low.
Say it again. I’ll ditch this resolve, and we’ll get low.
No matter where I stray,
my head seems to find a way to reconnect with those
Consumptive leanings.
But, I’ve nothing left to fear.
Because I never ask the question, so, I never will find out.
Am I capable of anything sincere?
Say it again. Say the words, and we'll get low.
Say it again. I’ll ditch this resolve, and we’ll get low.
Say it again. Save me some, and we'll get low.
Say it again. Save your tears, and we’ll get low.
I’ve had another revelation.
Please? Am i capable of anything sincere?

The Wealth
Stand up straight, take your hands off your bollocks.
Don't be late for your last chance to matter.
Now you can't blame the weather because there's nothing but flowers.
On the face of the matter, your a blank canvas with no bounds
Help yourself to the wealth, if you don't, they will.
We should have seen it coming but they've left us with nothing.
Don’t mistake your arse for your elbow.
Don’t be searching for guidelines in shadows.
Now hold it together for the sake of the parents.
Understand for the first time, you’re a blank canvas with no bounds.
I am the one that you turn to.
I am the one, that sees you through.

Books
For far too long I’ve felt alone in the midst of my old friends.
So I’m dusting all my patience off and I’m branching out again.
It’s in all the books, and its everywhere I look. It’s in everything I see.
For far too long I’ve felt at home in a mist of discontent.
So I’m airing all redundant woes while they vanish through the vent.
It’s in all the books and its everywhere I look. It’s in everything I see.
And I see blue skies.
I’ve spent too long in making molehills a mode of self-defence.
So I’m casting off and letting go instead of watching from the fence.
For too long now I guess I’ve known but could never implement.
That you swallow inhibitions whole, when you master those regrets.
It’s in all the books and its everywhere I look. It’s in everything I see

Don't Forget Again
Your wasted,
Clinging to your phone.
Those 'One last drink's,
Have kept you up for hours.
You still haven't learned. . .
That it's alright now.
So desperate,
Pleading with the walls.
For anyone.
Not one single thing
Has changed since you last knew,
Then forgot again. . .
That it's alright now.

The Morning After

The Morning After
I've been mulling something over, and there's one thing I've discovered.
I'm not so petrified of the morning after.
Was it any wander that I was always chasing the next high,
living in constant fear of the morning after?
I never spared a thought for where I was, only where I wanted to go.
I had it all backwards, i was just treading water.
It was a game of snakes and ladders.
Trying to claw my way to the top.
I wore those shit-stained glasses and forgot to enjoy myself.
It seems I'd found a way of falling off the floor.
But now, I've put my faith, in this morning after pill.

Scars
Tell me how it feels to know that we’re capable of things
That make me want to kneel and bang my head against the floor.
So show me how it feels to know that they justify the means and purpose
As the purest of intent, to hold you down.
Save for empathy, a growing sense of shame is all I have.
Tell me what it means to know that the scars can be reclaimed as spectacles.
The image of the bed still haunts me now.

Grass

Grass
It’s been quite a day for you, i know.
It seemed important at the time, i know.
You took for granted all you had,
and it went away.
Left you stranded on the grass alone
and i hope your proud?
(You dropped a bomb and forgot to run)
Now that you broke your own heart
well i hope you feel better?
Now that you tore it all apart
well i hope i hope you fell better?
You got to play the way you feel, i know.
It wasn’t quite the way you planned, i know.
You took for granted all you had,
and it went away.
Left you stranded on the grass, alone
and i hope your proud?
So don’t be in such a rush to make it final.
And don’t be oblivious,
To the hurt you caused.
To the way it was.
Now that you broke your own heart
well i hope you feel better?
Now that you tore it all apart
well i hope i hope you fell better?
Now that you got what you want
well i hope you feel better?
Now that you got what you want
well i hope you feel better now.

Playgrounds
there was once a handsome youngster
who felt the crush of her expectations
seemed at peace, but no-one asked her
she felt the lure of the stars above her
but its not the gravity she can’t escape
but something that cannot be mastered. .
the result of a perfect union
the boy was held up for inspection
and basked in blessings from the get go
but his soul was left un-nurtured
void of something he had to work for
poisoned by his precious pedestal…
is it possible to think and function?
while exhibiting inherited traits
it makes no sense to halt production.
but if conformity can bring no comfort
it needs addressing and it’s no mistake, those
un-walked paths can be so beautiful…
year after year passed away
but if you chase after ever after don’t be surprised
If it goes your way
and they taught you the right way
when you thought you were at play

The Grey Is Great

The Grey Is Great
The journal never lasted long,
The words all plundered by the songs.
Never quite the waterfall,
But wet enough to drown us all.
Now all those things i would never want,
Have come to be relied upon.
They are comforting and formidable,
But they’re fragile and non-refundable.
I felt that the new tasted same.
Then out of the blue comes the grey,
And it’s great.
I thought those years had been and gone.
Formative yet, oblivious.
Enthusiastic to a fault
Back when infinite was worth its salt.

Bullets
These are instructions for dodging bullets
A few things I’ve learnt on the way
If you never disclose what your heart only knows
It can’t be mis-placed.
Humans are creatures of habit, I know
And some things came natural to me.
But I’d never have known unless I had been shown
How to suffer needlessly.
Frustration is the part of imagination
That keeps us from levelling out
But it rattles my bones and it starves my patience of piece of mind.
Precious piece of mind.
These are instructions for dodging bullets
A few things I’ve learned on the way
If you never disclose
Then you’ll never know, come what may.
Let’s let come, what may.
If you’ve played your part well,
And I’ve played my part well,
Let’s let go.
